About the Department

The Eyes Behind Every Diagnosis

Radiology is the specialty that uses medical imaging to diagnose and guide the treatment of diseases. Without radiology, modern medicine would be working in the dark. The ability to visualise internal anatomy, detect tumours, assess vascular anatomy, guide needle biopsies, and drain collections without open surgery has revolutionised virtually every medical and surgical specialty. Modern radiology encompasses a vast array of technologies from the simplest X-ray to the extraordinary soft-tissue resolution of 3 Tesla MRI and a sub-specialty of interventional radiology that treats disease through image-guided, minimally invasive procedures.

Radiology at MNR Hospital

The Department of Radiology and Imaging at MNR Hospital is equipped with a 3 Tesla MRI scanner providing exceptional soft-tissue resolution for neurological, musculoskeletal, and body imaging; a 128-slice CT scanner for high-resolution chest, abdominal, and vascular studies; digital radiography systems; ultrasound machines including Doppler capability for vascular studies and echocardiography support; and a dedicated mammography unit for breast imaging including digital tomosynthesis. Our radiologists provide clinical, correlative reporting not just descriptive image analysis with same-day reporting for urgent studies and structured turnaround times for elective imaging. CT and MRI angiography provide detailed vascular assessment without catheterisation.

Interventional Radiology Treating Without Surgery

Our interventional radiology service performs image-guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including CT-guided biopsies, fluoroscopy-guided drainages, tumour embolisation, uterine artery embolisation, and PICC line insertions. These procedures deliver surgical-quality interventions with minimal patient trauma and short recovery times often performed as day procedures under local anaesthetic.
